Food Server/Cleaner

Purpose
The Food Server/Cleaner ensures that our counters, floors, tables and serving areas are properly cleaned and sanitized. This position will also serve food to guests and assist with stocking and re-stocking of all supplies. This position requires close contact with the public, the ability to work well with co-workers, and assists Santa’s guests in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.  

Functions and Responsibilities

1. Keeps all counters, tables, and floors clean.
2. Stocks and restocks all supplies and condiments.
3. Communicates with kitchen to ensure orders can be filled.
4. Washes and sanitizes dish’s (trays, pots and pans, utensils, etc.)
5. Keeps back stock areas organized, breaks down cardboard boxes and places cardboard in designated location.
6. Ensures safety of all employees and guests.
7. Greets guests courteously and assists guests.
8. Maintains a positive attitude.
9. Arrives at work on time, in “good show,” and keeps neat and clean throughout the day.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1. Able to learn which cleaning products are needed to clean food areas safely and efficiently.
2. Must possess a courteous and friendly rapport with guests and co-workers.
3. Have interpersonal/communication skills orally and in written language.
4. Understand importance of wearing gloves and washing hands.

Extent of Public Contact
The Food Server/Cleaner will greet guests, graciously provide them assistance, and answer their questions to make their visit enjoyable.

Physical Demands
Position requires frequent reaching, stretching, stooping and climbing up and down stairs. Much of the workday consists of standing and walking.  Often this position will be required to lift boxes weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions and Environment
Daytime and Christmastime position which may include weekends and holidays.   Position is mostly indoors; however, cleaning and chores may be outside as well as inside shops.

Server/Cleaners may work in any of the following extreme weather situations:

• Summer – Hot and Humid Conditions:
  1. Server/Cleaners will work in hot and sunny weather, often with high humidity, especially in summer months
• Rain and Stormy Weather
  1. Server/Cleaners may have to work in light rain or deal with temporary bursts of inclement weather like thunderstorms or heavy rain.
• Windy Conditions
  1. In areas with frequent winds, Server/Cleaners may need to monitor weather conditions to ensure safety of guests and employees
• Winter – Cold Conditions
  1. Server/Cleaners may be required to work in low temperatures, possibly with snow or ice.
  2. Will need to dress warmly, including wearing layers, gloves, hats, and appropriate outerwear.
  3. Depending on the location, there may be wind chill factors or occasional snow, which could impact visibility and comfort.

Job Requirements

• Must be 14 years of age or older
• Must be able to exhibit all physical demands listed in this job description at any given time during shift
• Must be flexible throughout season, with weekend availability
• Must be able to work independently, with little daily supervision
