Caregiver / Support Worker for Adult with Autism – Santa Rosa
A private family in Santa Rosa is seeking a compassionate, dependable support worker to join a small, consistent care team supporting a 22-year-old family member with autism.
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM) focused on helping maintain a calm, supportive household environment and assisting with daily routines. We are building a small, consistent team and are looking for someone patient, flexible, and comfortable working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Pay:
$25–$35 per hour depending on experience.
Mileage reimbursement provided for use of your vehicle during shifts.
About the Role:
The individual has autism and agitated catatonia, a neurological condition that can cause periods of restlessness, repetitive movements, difficulty completing tasks, and occasional agitation. During these times, he may get “stuck” trying to start or finish simple activities or become overwhelmed.
He benefits most from calm, steady support, gentle redirection, and consistent routines. We are looking for someone who can stay grounded, patient, and supportive during these moments.
Training and guidance will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Meal preparation and light grocery shopping
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, and calm home environment
- Supporting daily routines and structure
- Driving to and from outings, errands, or appointments as needed
- Going for walks or simple community outings
- Assisting with household tasks and encouraging participation
- Providing calm support during periods of anxiety, looping, or dysregulation
- Collaborating with family and other team members for consistency in care
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willing to use your vehicle for outings (mileage reimbursed)
- Experience with autism, developmental disabilities, caregiving, or behavioral support
- Patient, calm, and emotionally steady
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working as part of a small support team
- Able to follow direction and maintain consistency
