Position Summary: Under direct supervision, the Clinical Therapist/Counselor is responsible for working with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides evidence-based Seeking Safety curricula in group/individual sessions to address multiple/ complex issues related to violence, trauma/PTSD and addiction; offers individual therapy, couples/family counseling; family education/counseling, and trauma, grief support, and anger management groups; mediates family conferencing sessions
  • Provides behavioral health services, including brief interventions, individual, group and family therapy, and services to address trauma.
  • Implements RESPECT and other EBPs. Provides tobacco cessation counseling.
  • Provides clinical care coordination and crisis management services as needed.
  • Maintains communication with SMH Site Project Director; participates in scheduled trainings and meetings, as necessary.
  • Participates in program data collection and submission as needed to meet project goals; and maintains records and completes appropriate documentation.

Education/Experience:

Master’s degree in social work or related field (LMSW, LPC/LPC-I or equivalent); Experience providing individual/group therapeutic interventions and principles of case management for diverse PPW, children, and families in SUD treatment/social services settings; Bilingual preferred.

Experience implementing/practicing evidence-based practices, such as Seeking Safety, Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing, and delivery of curriculum-based education services.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Must have basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer).

Certificates and Licenses:

Master’s degree in social work or related field Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Master in Social Work (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or M.Ed, Psychology Post Doc under clinical supervision. If driving on SMH business, must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and provide proof of current insurance.

Approval Requirements:

Position may require background check approval from HCCSCD.

The position occasionally requires climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; tasting and smelling. Specific vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to sit. There is occasional standing, walking and use of hands to finger, handle and feel.

Salary : $65,000
