What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Education Facilitator position at SANTA MARIA COMMUNITY SERVICES?
This position performs direct service by providing educational and recreational programming for traditionally underserved youth in Price Hill, Lower Price Hill, and Sedamsville, focusing on outreach and group recruitment and facilitation, and development of social-emotional learning materials. Contribute to effectiveness of the department and overall mission of Santa Maria Adhere to agency policy, procedures and the professional code of ethics. Seek relevant training opportunities for professional growth and development. Satisfactorily complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Engage, recruit, and retain youth for Life Skills/Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Skills Groups in LPH Maintain attendance of 10-12 in each group. Research SEL best practices and develop materials as part of broader SEL curriculum development for Youth Program Work with other program staff to meet all outcomes/goals listed in City of Cincinnati, United Way, and other current contracts Coordinate and facilitate youth related events and programs consistent with program goals and objectives. Participate in planning and implementing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual program goals and objectives. Perform home visits to build relationships with youth's parents/caretakers in order to identify and address factors inhibiting family self-sufficiency, as outlined by agency policy and detailed by supervisor. Contribute to building relationships with schools, faith-based organization, and other groups that serve youth. Participate in Oyler Partner meetings, United Way Trainings, and other meetings inherent in “Collaborative Ventures”. Maintain working knowledge of SMCS programs to successfully navigate connections through the family-centered care model Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs and supervisory sessions.
Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree required in social work, psychology, education, or related field. One year of experience working with or providing services to children and families in a human/social service or educational setting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families Ability to build trusting relationships Ability to accept individual differences Willing to engage in reflective capacity (e.g. capacity for introspection, communicating of awareness of self in relation to others, recognizing the value of supervision, etc.)
