Welcome to the Santa Maria-Bonita School District website. We are the largest school district in Santa Barbara County with about 17,500 pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, the District Support Specialist will work with site teams, through the central office, to support inclusion practices for students with disabilities. This includes a comprehensive program of instruction, social/emotional learning, and behavior model. This position will guide teams to ensure high quality instruction, social/emotional, behavioral, and adaptive skills support within the general education environment. The District Support Specialist provides best practice knowledge to sites through general education and special education collaboration support inclusion practices.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years’ experience in a special education setting with knowledge and implementation of inclusion practices. Master’s Degree (Preferred); Bilingual/Multilingual preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: An appropriate valid California Teaching Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential; Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation may be required for some positions in this job class (mileage expense allowance provided); Inclusion certification training or equivalent (preferred).
