Position Summary
The Kindergarten Teacher at Spero Lower Elementary is a reflective, driven educator who embraces high expectations and continuous growth—for themselves and their students. This teacher understands that kindergarten is a critical year for building academic and behavioral foundations and approaches the work with both urgency and care.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction aligned to the Oklahoma Academic Standards with emphasis on foundational literacy and early numeracy
- Build strong foundational reading skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, oral language, and early writing using evidence-based practices
- Develop students’ early math understanding, including number sense, counting, operations, and mathematical thinking
- Establish predictable routines and clear expectations that help young learners develop independence and confidence
- Create a structured, joyful, and inclusive classroom culture that supports both academic learning and social development
- Support students’ social-emotional growth through modeling, direct instruction, and responsive classroom practices
- Actively participate in Santa Fe South’s instructional coaching model by seeking, receiving, and implementing feedback to continuously strengthen practice
- Plan and internalize lessons with fidelity, including preparing materials, anticipating misconceptions, and rehearsing instructional strategies
- Collaborate closely with grade-level teammates, instructional coaches, and campus leadership to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
- Use formative and summative assessments to provide targeted instruction, interventions, and enrichment
- Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues and communicate student progress regularly with families
- Contribute to campus-wide initiatives, professional learning communities, and the continued growth of Spero Elementary
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Strong alignment with Santa Fe South’s mission and commitment to serving the southside community
Preferred
- Experience teaching early elementary grades (Pre-K–2), particularly kindergarten
- Strong understanding of evidence-based literacy instruction and early numeracy development
- Experience working in diverse or high-need school communities
- Demonstrated openness to feedback and a growth-oriented mindset
- Oklahoma teaching certification (or willingness/eligibility to obtain) in Early Childhood Education
- Training in LETRS or other science of reading practices
