PRIMARY PURPOSE: Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language disorders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education / Certification:

  1. Valid Texas Assistant Speech-language Pathologist license granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language pathology and Audiology
  2. Bachelor’s degree

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions
  2. Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
  3. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  1. One year of supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience

Learner Centered Therapy Planning & Implementations

  1. Uses speech and language assessment data for planning and evaluating IEP’s.
  2. Communicates progress to students, teachers and
  3. Collaborates with other professionals in planning to maximize student success and enhance TAKS
  4. Communicates therapy objectives and importance of task (functional implications) to the student.
  5. Uses appropriate language for student’s mental and language abilities.
  6. Identifies target behaviors based on IEP objectives.
  7. Allows sufficient time for student to respond.
  8. Uses appropriate learner centered techniques in therapy.
  9. Gives students concise and concrete feedback regarding approximations toward mastery of objectives.
  10. Uses appropriate reinforcement techniques.
  11. Uses appropriate motivational techniques. Stresses importance of intrinsic motivation when appropriate.
  12. Uses therapy time effectively.
  13. Maximizes use of incidental learning.
  14. Presents information in a variety of ways.
  15. Structures the environment in order to facilitate optimal behaviors.
  16. Manages student behavior in an equitable manner.

Professional Responsibilities

  1. Submits paperwork in a timely Complies with timelines regarding referrals, evaluations and ARDs.

  6. Maintains student eligibility folders according to district guidelines.
  7. Engages in professional development.
  8. Transfers knowledge from professional development to therapy techniques and management tools.
  9. Meets all licensing requirements as set forth by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  10. Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct.
  11. Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
  1. Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
  2. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
  3. Support and follow administrative and board policy
  4. Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
  5. Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons
  6. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks; media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.

 

Salary : $58,884 - $85,618
