GENERAL FUNCTION
The Overnight Night Security Officer's primary working hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am with a half an hour break. This is an "eye open" job, doing rounds of the Facility, both inside and out. This job requires accurate records and reporting. Must be able to use fire alarm system and security system. Must have knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures. Must be an active team member of our Homeless Guest Services team and attend our weekly meetings.
Schedule
8 hour shifts, 10:00 pm- 6:00 am (with a half hour meal break).
Full-time, 40 hours a week
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
Implement Established Night Security Procedures
This position ensures the evening safety of the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission, its residents and homeless guests.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
Implement Established Night Security Procedures
- Make rounds hourly; stay alert
- Accurately report in the Security Log
- Support Men's Program security when needed
- Open courtyard door for homeless guests who are arriving late
- Respond to any homeless guests needs that come up throughout the night
- Assist in the check out of men in the morning
- All safety hazards reported
- All hazards addressed immediately, if possible
- Report lights that are out
- Set alarms
- Respond to alarms that are triggered
- Reset alarms
- Report all alarms in Security Log
- Keep security cameras aligned and monitored; report any problems
- Evacuate the facility
- Locate the problem
- Call Alarm company
- Call Fire Dispatch
- Reset alarm panel
- Call 911 and Homeless Guest Services Director Program Director in the event of a fire
- Cooperate and communicate clearly with shelter staff about what is going on in the program, especially regarding sign-in/sign-out logs
- Attend all Wednesday afternoon Homeless Guest Services Staff meetings
- Cooperate and communicate clearly with homeless services team members as well as men's program staff
- Report all events concerning Program residents
- Report all events concerning Homeless guests.
- Do not, at any time, put yourself in harm’s way (Call 911)
- Document in Security Report anything contrary to Policies and Procedures
- Call Homeless Guest Services Director whenever you have facilities-related problems or there is an emergency matter
- Maintain a professional demeanor
- Maintain work area in a clean, acceptable and appropriate manner
