Position Summary:

Under clinical supervision, provides assessment and outpatient counseling services to children, adults and families who are members of the Santa Ana Pueblo. Services are to address a variety of Issues to include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia, alcohol/substance abuse, marital problems, behavioral problems, elder abuse, child abuse and neglect, and domestic violence. Ensures compliance with tribal, local, state, and federal statues, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Provide individual, couples, family, and group education and counseling services

· Provide mental health education to the clients, their families, and the general community

· Conduct intake, mental health, and substance abuse assessments (as appropriate per licensure/credentials) and make appropriate referrals

· Establish treatment plans

· Participate in case staffing and on multidisciplinary teams

· Maintain complete and up-to-date health records for all clients

· Attend individual supervision, team meetings, client staffing meetings, clinical consultations, counselor and clinical team meetings, and other appropriate meetings as assigned

· Attends court hearings and makes recommendations to the courts as requested.

· Provide crisis response while collaborating with social services, tribal police department, or other emergency service providers in the event of a crisis or on call rotation through on call crisis response.

· Contributes to department’s effectiveness by identifying short-

term and long-range issues and goals that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of actions; implementing directives.

· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.

· Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.

· Performs other duties as required.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess Masters’ degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field and possess current license, such as LMSW, LMFT, LPCC, LADAC, LCSW, etc. Must have minimum 1 year of experience in related professional activities. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s insurance.

 

 

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

· Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.

· Knowledge of Santa Ana Pueblo traditions, language, history, and culture.

· Knowledge of the Pueblo’s judicial system.

· Knowledge of case management and crisis intervention.

· Knowledge of 12-step program.

· Knowledge of various therapeutic models, such as Gestalt Therapy, Behavior Modification, Rational Emotive Therapy, Moral Recognition Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Mindfulness, etc.

· Strong clinical skills and knowledge of treatment issues concerning children, adolescents, adults, and families

· Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.

· Ability to exercise independent judgment.

· Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations.

· Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice, and desire to help when dealing with people.

· Ability to work extended hours, flexible work schedules. But also required to work normal office hours of 8AM-4:30PM

· Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.

· Ability to work with leadership and/or co-workers to expand the SASS-BH program

· Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.

· Ability to work with clients from the PSA courts without fer or judgement

· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to work on call rotation Mondays 8AM- Monday 8AM… rotations based on number of clinicians

 

 

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee may be required to be in the weather elements will managing crisis response. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

 

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office and community setting with a moderate noise level. Situations where extreme caution must be exercised sometimes occur when contacting individuals at home. Evening, weekend, and/or holiday work may be required. May be required to be on call for emergencies.
