Environmental Education & Community Outreach Coordinator Location 02 Dove Road, Santa Ana Pueblo, NM, 87004, United States Base Pay $60216.00 - $67392.00 / Year Employee Type Full Time-Exempt Required Degree 2 Year Degree Minimum Experience 2 Years Contact information Name Haven Calix Phone 505-346-4277 Email Haven.Calix@Santaana-nsn.gov Description POSITION TITLE: Environmental Education & Community Outreach Coordinator CLASSIFICATION: Exempt DEPARTMENT: Department of Natural Resources SUPERVISOR: DNR Director GRADE: E2 Position Summary: Increases the understanding of the ecosystems on the Santa Ana Pueblo and environmental stewardship of the Pueblo’s lands by implementing all the environmental education and outreach efforts for the Department of Natural Resources. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Acts as an education and outreach person for the Department of Natural Resources. Establishes goals and objectives for an efficient and effective environmental education and community outreach program. Develops activities for children’s environmental education programs such as Head Start, Child Care, and After School Program. Performs outreach to community members, governmental employees, tribal businesses and boards regarding environmental stewardship, DNR projects and programs, and issues related to the protection of Santa Ana’s natural resources and environment. Coordinates education and outreach events including the Annual Environmental Fair, DNR Open House, community wood distribution, Santa Ana Youth Hands on Hydrology Program, and feather distribution. Collaborates with other tribal programs to promote community health and wellness, dog spay and neuter clinics, and education. Maintains effective communication with other pueblos as well as various federal, state, and local agencies to support the program objectives and activities. Research grant opportunities, develops scopes of work and budgets, and writes and submits grant applications. Manages grant and project budgets, purchases supplies and services, tracks project expenditures, and ensures milestones are met. Writes reports to granting agencies and keeps DNR staff and tribal leadership informed of grant status, activities, and deliverables. Assists in communicating DNR projects and activities to the community through social media or other means. Maintains professional knowledge by attending meetings, conferences, and workshops; reviewing professional publications and literature; building relationships with appropriate agencies; and keeping abreast of current technologies. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in environmental science, Education, or related field plus two years work experience in environmental education required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s insurance. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications: Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements. Knowledge of environmental, pollution and recycling issues. Knowledge of department organization, functions, objectives, policies and procedures. Skill in operating various word-processing and spreadsheet programs in a Windows environment. Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to create and present effective speeches and presentations. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to speak and understand Keres is highly desirable. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level with some exposure to outdoor weather conditions while performing outdoor duties.

Salary : $60,216 - $67,392
