Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or Turf Grass Management and 3-5 years of golf course maintenance experience or any combination of education and experience enough to perform the duties of the position. NM Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain such within 90 days of employment. Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record for the past three years.

General Position Description

Under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Second Assistant Superintendent is responsible for maintaining the turf and landscape for both Twin Warriors and Santa Ana Golf Club. This position plays a key role in ensuring that the golf course meets the high standards expected by our guests. The Second Assistant Superintendent will oversee and train the maintenance staff, assist in staff selection and evaluations, and manage course operations, including irrigation, seasonal agronomic practices, and the application of pesticides, fertilizers, and soil conditioners. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential for motivating the maintenance team and coordinating with the Pro Shop staff regarding daily operations and special events. Proficiency in computer irrigation software is required, along with the ability to process timesheets and manage payroll for the maintenance staff.
