What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Scientist position at Sansimeon?
Company Description
Sansimeon is a life science tools company developing next-generation single-cell sequencing solutions that address critical barriers in clinical and translational research. Our technology enables scalable and reproducible single-cell sequencing, advancing clinical relevance and expanding applications in immunotherapy, precision medicine, AI-based drug discovery, and translational research.
Job Description
The company has an opportunity for a Senior Scientist with expertise in single-cell genomics and assay development to execute the biological validation and translational application of our sample preparation platform. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who thrives in a dynamic start-up environment, working closely with our San Carlos, CA–based team and collaborating with our Boston-based technical team.
Responsibilities
• Execute the biological validation and translational application of Sansimeon’s sample preparation platform, including design and execution of experiments that quantify platform performance and demonstrate significance for clinical and translational single-cell sequencing workflows.
• Perform single-cell sequencing library preparation, sequencing runs, and quality assessment, including analysis of gene detection, UMI counts, ambient RNA contamination, and cell-type composition.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members in engineering, bioinformatics, and operations to align assay development with overall system requirements.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including experimental plans, protocols, and technical reports, in compliance with internal quality standards.
• Engage with translational researchers in oncology, immunology, and cell therapy to understand unmet needs and translate those into experimental priorities and use cases.
• Generate data that supports business development, partnership discussions, and investor communications.
• Maintain biological samples (cell culture, blood/PBMCs, tissue sample acquisition) for R&D use.
Qualifications
• PhD in genomics, molecular biology, bioengineering, immunology, or a related discipline, with hands-on single-cell sequencing experience (10X Chromium, BD Rhapsody, Parse Evercode or similar platforms).
• 1–2 years of postdoctoral or industry experience, ideally in a translational or clinical research setting working with primary human samples.
• Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and interpret rigorous experiments, with strong skills in data analysis and scientific communication.
• Strong capability with various molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, assay design). Experience with NGS library preparation workflows, sequencing data QC metrics, and standard bioinformatics tools for single-cell analysis (Seurat, Scanpy, or equivalent).
• Experience with CITE-seq, cell hashing, or other multi-modal single-cell assays is a plus.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques and sample preparation methods for single-cell sequencing. Experience in cell sorting a plus.
• Interest in engaging with external researchers and understanding how scientific evidence translates into product and commercial value.
• Self-starter who requires minimal supervision and works with a sense of urgency.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and technical writing ability.
