Sanofi seeks a visionary strategic leader to serve as the Head of Scientific Communications Excellence within Sanofi's OneMedical and Patient Safety Organization to transform scientific communications into a measurable value engine that shapes how the company communicates its science globally. This senior leadership role will define and operationalize a comprehensive global scientific communications ecosystem, ensuring consistent, compliant, and impactful dissemination of scientific evidence across publications, congresses, data sharing, biostatistics, IME, and grants & donations.

Reporting to the Head of Medical Strategy, Transformation and Excellence, this position requires a seasoned executive who can build and execute strategies that elevate Sanofi's scientific reputation across therapeutic areas and geographies while shaping the company's future scientific narrative with clarity, credibility, and speed. The role demands embedding performance excellence, data transparency, AI enablement, and measurable impact at scale while leading scientific professionals and partnering across Medical GBUs, R&D, Commercial, GTMC, Digital, SBO and Corporate Affairs.

This position is central to strengthening stakeholder trust, ensuring transparent data access, accelerating innovation adoption, and reinforcing Sanofi's global scientific reputation in support of our mission to chase the miracles of science.

Main Responsibilities

Scientific Communication Harmonization

  • Establish and drive a unified vision for scientific communications across GBUs and regions
  • Develop governance structures and processes to ensure consistency in messaging, quality, and compliance
  • Partner with Global Medical, R&D, GTMC and local country teams to align scientific narratives and communication strategies to ensure one integrated scientific voice.
  • Champion best practices and standardization while allowing for appropriate country adaptation

Frameworks & Narratives

  • Lead the development of strategic scientific communication frameworks that articulate Sanofi's science story and ensure consistency in messaging
  • Ensure narratives are grounded in data, aligned with brand strategies, and resonate with diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Drive innovation in storytelling approaches to maximize engagement and understanding

Performance Excellence

  • Establish operational excellence standards across all scientific communication functions
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes, timelines, and resource utilization
  • Drive efficiency through technology adoption, automation, and streamlined workflows
  • Benchmark against industry best practices and lead initiatives to maintain competitive advantage

Impact Measures

  • Define and implement meaningful KPIs to measure the impact of scientific communications including scientific share of voice and congress activities
  • Ensure dashboards and reporting mechanisms are in place to provide visibility to leadership on performance
  • Evolve analytics to derive insights and inform strategic decision-making
  • Demonstrate impact and value of scientific communications to the organization and external stakeholders

Scientific Publications & Data Sharing

  • Oversee end-to-end publication planning and operations, ensuring timely, high-quality, and compliant outputs
  • Lead Sanofi's data transparency and sharing initiatives in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry commitments
  • Ensure adherence to Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines and ICMJE standards
  • Manage relationships with relevant external vendors, agencies, SBO hubs and journal editors

Biostatistics

  • Work with publication leads to review and provide input on concept developments and publication submissions
  • Conduct of statistical analyses contributing to the submission of publications and presentations arising from Sanofi sponsored clinical studies, including Phase 2, 3 and 4 studies, and exploratory analyses

Publications Information Access

  • Ensure seamless access to scientific publications and data for internal Sanofi stakeholders
  • Oversee systems and platforms for publication tracking, repository management, and information retrieval
  • Drive digital innovation to enhance stakeholder access to Sanofi's scientific evidence
  • Partner with IT and Digital teams to optimize technologies and recognize efficiencies

Independent Medical Education (IME)

  • Provide strategic oversight of Sanofi's IME programs and investments
  • Ensure IME initiatives are aligned with medical strategy and address educational gaps
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and industry codes
  • Evaluate IME partnerships and measure educational impact and outcomes

Grants & Donations

  • Oversee scientific and medical grants and charitable donations programs
  • Ensure robust governance, transparency, and compliance in all grant-making activities
  • Develop criteria and processes for grant evaluation and allocation
  • Monitor and report on the impact of grants and donations on scientific and medical communities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of scientific professionals
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent; build succession plans for critical roles
  • Manage budget and resources effectively to deliver on strategic priorities

About You

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or related field
  • 10 years of progressive experience in scientific communications, medical affairs, or related functions with 5 years in senior leadership roles leading teams
  • Deep expertise in publications, medical communications, and scientific content development with track record of innovative approaches
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry guidelines (GPP, ICMJE, PhRMA Code, etc.)
  • Background and experience in digital communications and emerging technologies
  • Therapeutic area expertise aligned with Sanofi's portfolio
  • Experience with organizational transformation and change management
