Sanofi is looking for a cell culture development professional to join the Cell Culture Development Group located in Framingham, MA in the role of Associate Scientist. The Global Cell Culture Development group within Sanofi operates with the mission to develop robust, scalable, and innovative cell culture processes for Sanofi’s diverse early and late-stage biologics pipeline. We are looking for a candidate with excellent scientific and communication skills to join a team of upstream development scientists and engineers. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with others in the team to complete assigned experiments and follow best laboratory practices.

Main Responsibilities

• Execute upstream process development experiments under general supervision; independently execute simple experiments and support complex experiments.
• Execute cell separation and harvest experiments evaluating centrifugation and depth filtration strategies.
• Maintain laboratory bioreactor automation, including routine setup, calibration and troubleshooting of common issues.
• Participate in upstream and cell line development team meetings to support team goals.
• Prepare experimental protocols, perform troubleshooting of common cell culture challenges (e.g. contamination), and author templated technical reports with supervision.
• Maintain high-quality deliverables, open communication, and a collaborative working environment.
• Develop an understanding of the basic technical principles underlying cell culture theory and experimentation (e.g. sterile technique, mass transfer).
• Contribute to upstream, cell line development or technology development teams that develop and implement industry leading cell culture production technologies and platforms.
• Suggest improvements in the execution of standard cell culture experiments and participate in initiatives to improve upstream process development approaches.
• Adhere to all relevant HSE procedures and guidelines, lab guidance documents (LOPs, SOPs) and safety training, including data integrity and documentation practices.
• Present experimental results at lab meetings or within the upstream team.
  
  

About You

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioprocessing, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 3 months of experience or equivalent exposure in a cell culture or biological laboratory setting (coursework, undergraduate research, or internship experience will also be considered)
• Working knowledge of aseptic technique
• English proficiency
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience executing cell culture experiments in high throughput models (shake flasks, ambr15) or benchtop bioreactor systems
• Experience with ambr250 bioreactors
• Experience with cell separation and harvest techniques including centrifugation or depth filtration
• Experience using AI tools for literature review, data analysis, or technical writing
