Position Summary: Facilities II (Maintenance Technician)
Reports To: Manager
Location: Shakopee, MN
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: Monday - Friday 10am - 6:30pm
Grade Level: $20.32 - $26.66* per hour (*includes $1/hr retention bonus through 7/31/2023)

Position Summary: Position will support daily DC operations to provide a safe, clean, efficient, and comfortable environment. Performs general or preventative maintenance around the DC. Requires organization and ability to follow a routine and provide regular inspection of assigned areas.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance or carpentry, minor repairs, and routine painting.
- Assist with preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
- Relocate, move, and adjust furniture as needed.
- Respond in a professional and timely manner to management and internal customer inquiries and researches and resolves problems related to a facility's operational issues.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements. Maintain all required HAZMAT records including maintenance.
- Interact with outsourced building services including (but not limited to) janitorial, document shredding, garbage collection, window cleaning, grounds keeping, and furniture repair.
- May be required to operate powered lift equipment.
- Maintain repair and maintenance log.
- Sanitary maintenance as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Position:
- Excellent organization, ability to prioritize daily responsibilities.
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance and custodial principles, procedures, and standards.
- May be required to complete and maintain SanMar’s Lift Operator Certification every two years.
- Self-motivator; needs to take initiative.
- Able to work both independently and within a team.
- Demonstrates ability to follow directions and change priorities or job duties as business needs require; rotate to other production functions as needed.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Responsive to staff needs, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and consideration of others always
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Responsible for checking out equipment and returning in same condition.
- Maintain safe, neat, and clean work area by adhering to SanMar safety regulations
- Mandatory overtime as required, which may include weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year facility maintenance experience is required to include most of the duties and responsibilities as listed above and use of hand and power tools.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to walk, stand, and climb stairs. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, handle or feel, to pull/push, cart with product, grasp and perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions. The employee is frequently required to climb, kneel/squat, bend, and carry. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, and seldom lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Work environment is moderately noisy. The employee is occasionally required to work near conveyor systems. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Employee must be able to work in a high-volume, high-demand environment. Employee must be able to change priorities or job duties as needed and interact with employees at all levels.
