POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Engineer position requires a combination of engineering and operational efficiency training and skills. The Production Engineer position supports the Cell Manager’s goals to improve OEE by completing 5S, lean manufacturing, automation, and logistics projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The Production Engineer is responsible for 5S of each machine in their assigned cell. The focus should be elimination of failure modes as per the PFMEA/Control plan and improvement of overall workstation management. 
  2. The Production Engineer is responsible for all SWI’s withing their cell, ensuring that they are up to date and accurate. 
  3. The Production Engineer will assist the Controls Engineer and New Program Team in maximizing the current production workstation counting and assembly jigs by improving accuracy and efficiency of the jigs. 
  4. The Production Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all necessary workstation equipment is in good working order. 
  5. The Production Engineer will assist the Cell Manager in assignments as needed to improve OEE and implement/Test new processes. 
  6. The Projection Engineer will assist with training the PQL’s in the associated cells on key equipment and 5S requirements. 
  7. Production Engineer will assist the Cell Manager in other assignments as needed.

7.   Ensure cleanliness and orderliness throughout the marketing and sales areas. 

 

SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. Strong leadership ability and a high degree of ethical and professional standards.  Must be trusted by subordinates, peers, and superiors, and must be willing to accept responsibility for their staff’s performance.
  1. Must use the Plex manufacturing software whenever possible. Previous knowledge of PLEX ERP is not required. Must use Excel, MS Word, and MS Office. 
  1. Requires a commitment to continuous improvement to meet ever-increasing demands for improved quality, service, and pricing.
  2. Excellent training and communication skills with subordinates, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all department managers and the Managing Director.
  1. Strong critical thinking skills of both the interpersonal and the technical side of the operation.
  2. Organized and structured approach to the work environment, with strong attention to detail.
  3. Ability to manage stressful employee situations, and to treat people with respect.
  1. Ability to perform in an initiative-taking mode, and to plan and respond accordingly.
  2. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles, automation, and project management a plus. 
  3. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3-5 years Production Engineering experience. 
  1. Must be willing to travel periodically.

The Production Engineer reports to the Cell Manager.
