Responsibilities:
- Receive emergency calls and gather necessary information from callers
- Remain calm and composed while speaking with distressed callers
- Determine the nature and severity of each emergency
- Dispatch appropriate emergency personnel to the scene
- Provide instructions and guidance to callers until help arrives
- Maintain accurate records of all calls and actions taken
- Operate phone systems, radio systems, and computer-aided dispatch software
- Monitor multiple channels and respond to incoming calls promptly
- Collaborate with other emergency services agencies as needed
Requirements:
- Be willing to perform shift work (nights, weekends, holidays)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a thorough background check
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations effectively
- Strong conflict management and negotiation skills
- Proficient in data entry and computer usage
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
