The Water Quality Operator helps to deliver safe, reliable drinking water to the city of Sanford/Springvale. This is a hands-on, meaningful job that protects public health, supports fire protection and keeps the water system running 24/7. This position offers a unique combination of laboratory work, water treatment, SCADA operations, equipment maintenance and environmental protection. Responsibilities and duties include:
- Operate and monitor SCADA and pumping systems
- Perform water sampling and laboratory testing
- Monitor and adjust treatment chemicals
- Maintain treatment facilities and equipment
- Respond to emergency calls as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Team player
- Ability to work independently
- Mechanical aptitude and computer skills
- Minimum of a valid State of Maine Class C driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to obtain a Maine Class II Water Distribution License and Class III Treatment license
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- No criminal history
- Experience working for a Public Water Supply preferred
