**Job Summary**
Primary duties of a purchasing assistant is working closely with Sanford departments to process orders requested by end users. Maintain purchase orders and address purchasing issues until the products are delivered, received and invoices are paid to close the purchase order. Procurement of items through the creation of Purchase orders submitted to suppliers, monitoring and expediting orders as requested. Resolves shipments errors with suppliers. Strive to achieve maximum value in the purchase of materials and services per established contracts. Negotiate terms, price, and conditions in the event of a non-established contract. Such conditions include the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services, shipping and returning of product for credit with assigned categories. Must be able to work and communicate with all levels of internal staff, external manufacturers and distributors in reference to ordering, receiving, payment or returns.
Process requisitions and issue purchase orders for supplies and equipment in a timely manner. Follow up on past due purchase orders. Validate and resolve pricing discrepancies. Process vendor returns. Strong communication skills, in both written and verbal forms. Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
**Qualifications**
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Proficient in ERP software. Minimum of 1 year of experience in purchasing preferred.
