**Job Summary**
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the collection of registration data to accurately identify, interview, admit and register patients. This individual will provide exceptional customer service to meet the needs of customers. Operates computer and phone system to appropriately and accurately input or retrieve patient information. Verifies and updates insurance cards/eligibility and other billing-related documents and completes work list activities to ensure work assigned is completed in a timely manner. Enters appointment information as needed to facilitate registration at walk-in desks. Prepares and completes patient documents including obtaining patient signatures on forms/consents to ensure timely and accurate billing. Assists patients with information on Financial Assistance, patient bill of rights, and Notice of privacy Practices ensuring compliance with payer and regulatory requirements. Collects non-covered amount and personal amount due for the planned visit to meet department collection goals and patient experience expectations. Attains productivity benchmarks and department standards, including but not limited to point of service collections and insurance eligibility to warrant timely payments and accurate claims. Depending on the setting, may perform scheduling duties. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
Direct customer service experience in a professional business setting. Experience working with a business-oriented computer program required. Knowledge of medical insurance and one year experience in a healthcare facility including direct patient contact and customer service preferred.
Certified Health Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
