In this Lab Assistant position you will be able to expand beyond blood draws and sample processing. You have the unique opportunity to train in becoming a Limited Xray Machine Operator. As well as running tests on patient samples to provide swift results for patients to help in diagnosis. You get an opportunity to work closely with all clinical staff.
Job Summary
Responsibilities include phlebotomy, collecting, preparing and processing biological specimens and will be performing in house lab testing. Maintains complete records; monthly testing log, incident logs, quality control checks, proficiency testing, storage area temperature monitoring, maintenance contracts for all lab equipment.
Will be required to complete Limited X-ray Machine Operator training to complete X-rays and send the for interpretation. Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks. Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.
Maintains complete records; monthly testing log, incident logs, quality control checks, proficiency testing, storage area temperature monitoring, maintenance contracts for all lab equipment. Will be required to maintain lab equipment, perform quality control on testing equipment, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper equipment operation. Will be required to complete Limited X-ray Machine Operator training to complete X-rays and send the for interpretation. Perform both DOT and Non‐DOT urine drug screens, using proper chain of custody; ensure preparation for pick‐up and shipment to appropriate laboratory.
Qualifications
High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) preferred.
Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
