Shift Leader – Specialty Pet Store
Do you love animals and enjoy helping people? Our locally owned specialty pet store is looking for a dependable, motivated Shift Leader who is passionate about pet health and enjoys creating a positive experience for both customers and coworkers.
This position is ideal for someone with previous leadership experience who enjoys taking responsibility, supporting a team, and helping ensure the store runs smoothly.
As a Shift Leader, you'll be trusted to lead by example, open and close the store, and keep daily operations on track.
Schedule: Must be available most Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Hours: Between 25-35 per week.
What You'll Do
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and help customers choose the best products for their pets
- Learn about pet nutrition and health products so you can confidently guide customers toward informed choices
- Operate the register and manage retail transactions
- Restock shelves and maintain an organized, well-stocked sales floor
- Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing inventory
- Open and close the store
- Manage daily tasks and shift to-do lists to keep store operations running smoothly
- Lead and support team members during your shift
- Ensure store standards are maintained and daily responsibilities are completed
- At times, you may be the primary team member in the store, so comfort with working independently, managing the register, and assisting customers on your own is important.
What We're Looking For
- Previous leadership experience is required (Shift Leader, Key Holder, Team Lead, or similar retail leadership role)
- Previous retail experience required
- Comfortable using a register and handling cash/card payments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Dependable, punctual, and accountable
- Able to motivate others while maintaining a positive, team-focused work environment
- Comfortable making decisions and taking initiative when working independently
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- A genuine passion for animals and their health and well-being
Reliability Matters
Because we are a small, close-knit team, every scheduled shift is important. Unexpected call-outs or attendance issues have a significant impact on store operations and your coworkers. We are looking for someone who takes their schedule seriously, communicates proactively when issues arise, and can be counted on to show up ready to lead each shift.
Pay: Based on experience.
