What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flower Shop Manager / Lead Floral Designer position at Sandy Flower Shop?
We are an established, well-loved flower shop with a loyal customer base, excellent reviews, and a strong reputation in our community. We’re looking for an experienced Flower Shop Manager / Lead Floral Designer who loves flowers, genuinely enjoys taking care of customers, and is excited about the opportunity to take ownership of a shop and help it continue to grow.
This is more than a floral design position. We’re looking for someone who can see the whole picture—someone who can create beautiful work, lead a team, solve problems, take exceptional care of customers, and confidently manage the day-to-day needs of a busy flower shop.
What you'll do:
- Create beautiful everyday, sympathy, funeral, wedding, and special-event floral designs
- Provide exceptional customer service and confidently handle customer questions and concerns
- Lead and support the shop team while creating a positive, productive work environment
- Manage daily workflow, orders, production, deliveries, and priorities
- Help manage product ordering, inventory, waste, and shop expenses
- Maintain quality standards throughout the shop
- Build relationships with customers and help grow the business
- Keep the shop organized and beautiful—including the not-so-glamorous parts of the flower business like washing buckets, processing flowers, cleaning coolers, and taking out the trash
- Step in wherever needed to make sure customers are taken care of and the shop runs smoothly
We're looking for someone who is:
- An experienced floral designer
- Dependable, trustworthy, resilient, and hardworking
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions
- A natural leader who can also work alongside the team
- Great with people and genuinely loves customer service
- Organized and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Financially minded enough to understand that purchasing, labor, waste, and profitability matter
- Interested in learning all aspects of running a successful small business
- Willing to take ownership rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done
- Flexible and willing to work the schedule required by a seasonal, customer-focused business
The Opportunity
For the right person, this is an opportunity to become an important part of an established business and have real influence over its future. You'll have the freedom to use your experience, ideas, and judgment while learning more about the business side of the floral industry.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just want their next floral design job—we want someone who wants to grow into a leadership role, take pride in the shop as if it were their own, and build something they are proud of.
If you love flowers, love people, aren't afraid of hard work, and are the type of person who sees what needs to be done and does it, we'd love to meet you.
