STARTING SALARY: $57,000 – $95,000/Annually, DOQ
STATUS: Regular (Benefitted)
Remote work is available 1-2 days per week upon approval and after training.
DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services/Finance
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision and direction of the Deputy Finance Director or City Treasurer, perform general accounting duties, including providing budget information to departments. Higher level positions may also perform special, complex, or general accounting projects, serves as an information resource for other accountants and departments as well as performing other general or complex accounting duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Accountant I: Position requires completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field within one year of hire. Government accounting education and/or experience is preferred.
· Accountant II: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required. Master’s degree in accounting and/or CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Requires three years of governmental accounting or other closely related work experience. May substitute year-for-year any equivalent combination of experience and education.
· Accountant III: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required. Master’s degree in accounting and/or CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Requires six years of governmental accounting or other closely related work experience.
Requires a valid Utah driver's license. A one-year probationary period is a prerequisite to this position. Knowledge of general and governmental accounting principles and practices; payroll practices; general office procedures; City Ordinances; personnel, tax, and payroll laws. Great responsibility for important City records dealing with confidential matters; great responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, money, and tools. Ability to professionally furnish and obtain information from other departments; contact with other departments, requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction; constant contact with the public presenting data that may influence important decisions. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Requires regular use of office equipment including a personal computer (spreadsheet and word processing), 10-key, printer, copier, and telephone system. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; prioritize tasks; establish effective work relationships with employees and the public; records management skills; apply complex concepts to the solution of problems.
