What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Custodians position at Sandwich Public Schools?
Sandwich Public Schools has openings for substitute custodians.
Performs custodial duties and assignments in a school building setting including but not limited to: Using chemicals and agents to clean and disinfect bathrooms, classrooms and offices; working with a team or individually to complete cleaning area assignments under the direction of the Custodial Lead; working safely and is able to use personal protective equipment to perform tasks.
The substitute custodian will be asked to work various shifts at various buildings and must be able to easily adapt to each unique team environment. This position will be used to fill schedule openings, and will be scheduled as needed.
Candidates must posses the following: High School diploma or equivalent; Current/Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License; Knowledge of various cleaning methods; Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively in a team environment; Ability to perform all functions of the job requiring independent judgement, decision-making and problem solving; Ability to work with computers and technology; Ability to lift 80lbs of weight, comfortable working in confined spaces, capability to work in weather conditions, comfortable traversing across campuses and must have the physical mobility and stamina to perform all duties required. Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
FY26 Wage Schedule: $22.90 - $29.00 per hour based on a 8 step scale.
