Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Officer
The Town of Sandwich, MA is seeking a 40 hour per week, year-round Department of Natural Resource (DNR) Officer. Assists the Department of Natural Resources with administrative, technical and regulatory work in enforcing and coordinating local conservation and natural resource related efforts. Position will assist with animal control related functions, serve as a Deputy Shellfish Constable and assist the department, as needed, on a wide variety of tasks and DNR related special projects. Job duties will change seasonally, although administrative, inside office functions will be required year-round and will account for about ½ of your job hours.
Some of the outside job tasks (once trained) will include:
Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, environmental science, wildlife biology, environmental law enforcement or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Some knowledge of shellfish, coastal and inland waterways laws, other natural resource conservation laws, federal, state, and local wetland protection laws is preferred but not required.

- Shellfish Constable duties
- Shore Bird monitoring tasks such as fence placement
- Other Shore Bird tasks as required
- Assisting Animal Control Officer on calls, when needed
- Other DNR related matters as may be required
