As a Survey Project Manager, you’ll be a key leader who guides projects from concept to completion. You’ll work directly with clients, plan survey strategies, support field crews, and ensure every deliverable reflects the quality Sands Surveying is known for. Client & Project Leadership
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, managing expectations and ensuring deliverables are met on schedule and within budget.
- Participate in and lead project kickoff meetings and provide regular status updates to clients.
- Interpret legal descriptions, deeds, and client requirements to determine the right survey methodology.
- Perform complex boundary analysis and computations for various survey types.
- Make technical decisions regarding boundary interpretations, data processing, and field-to-office workflows.
- Conduct quality assurance and control (QA/QC) reviews of plats, legal descriptions, and other deliverables.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Translate office-based plans into clear field instructions for crews.
- Supervise and mentor CAD technicians and field staff, providing feedback and training.
- Allocate resources, track assignments, and balance workloads across the team.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise in the field, providing technical support and guidance.
Data & Documentation Oversight
- Review, validate, and process field data for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain project records, research materials, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local survey requirements.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive land surveying experience, including significant project management or leadership exposure.
- Proficiency with modern survey software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) and equipment (e.g., GPS and total stations, Leica preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with boundary analysis and preparing legally compliant survey deliverables.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership ability, with experience managing and mentoring both field and office teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or working toward licensure is preferred.
