This is a dynamic, hands-on service role where you will serve food and beverage items to customers in a friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and timely manner. You will be key to assuring exceptional guest experiences and operational efficiency, demonstrating your ability to celebrate our value to "Bring the Energy."
Your Service & Operational Duties
As our Bistro Server, you are responsible for the total dining experience, from taking the order to securing payment, all while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Essential Tasks Include:
Order Taking & Salesmanship: Take orders for and serve all food and beverage requests, skillfully using suggestive selling techniques to enhance the guest experience and revenue.
Table Service & Clearing: Clear tables during service and ensure quick table turnover. Provide direct service to guests as needed, including busing tables and seating guests.
Station Maintenance & Side Duties: Ensure station and table set-ups are complete. Perform various side duties as assigned by the Outlet Supervisor. Maintain proper condition and cleanliness of dining areas and servicing equipment.
Financial & Clerical Duties: Control guest checks and secure proper payment, including performing general clerical/cashier duties.
Compliance & Certifications: Food Handling Certification is required, as is a valid Nevada Alcohol Card.
Attendance & Scheduling: Regular attendance is essential to performance. Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, you must be prepared to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Full compliance with Sandpiper Hospitality/Courtyard Reno rules and regulations is mandatory.
Physical Demands of the Role
This is a highly active position requiring stamina and mobility:
Mobility: Position requires frequent walking and the ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Must be able to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously in limited space.
Environment: Most work is performed indoors in moderate, controlled temperatures, though you must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens ( 110°F) for periods of time.
