What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Aide - PRN position at Sandoval County?
Under general supervision, oversees the recreational activities at assigned community center; oversees and provides planned activities for the community residents; assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the gym and community center; and may assist in coordinating the rental use of the center.

This is a safety- sensitive position subject to random drug testing in accordance with County policy Article XIII Drug and Alcohol Policy and Testing-Drug Free Workplace of the Sandoval County Personnel Rules and Regulation.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution and six months experience that includes interaction with varying age groups, individually or in groups, (youth/seniors) within a recreational field or a related profession.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license
- Must pass criminal background check
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

- May serve in lead capacity or provide direction to other assigned assistants depending on the activity.
- Responsible for carrying out and monitoring programs as designed for recreational activities such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, board games, card games, crafts, and school homework sessions; enforces rules of facility and of recreational activity.
- Coordinates with management and assists in the scheduling of recreational activities and rental use of facilities; sets up programs and facilities for program use in the center and recreational gym; and maintains all materials, tools, and equipment in good order.
- Creates posters, fliers, and letters to advertise various activities.
- Maintains center inventory; monitors levels of supplies and informs supervisor when new supplies are required.
- Attends meetings and participates in various community committees associated with Community Center
- Oversees activities; ensures that safety requirements for equipment, activities, facilities and activities are met; and prepares reports related to program activities and needs; provides other reports as requested.
- Maintains and cleans the gym and restrooms on a regular basis to include sweeping, mopping and window washing.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
