Description

Position Summary

Supervises and directs, on a scheduled shift, the activities of surveillance technicians involved in observing and reporting illegal and non-procedurally compliant violations of casino policies and procedures, NIGC, STGC Regulations, and New Mexico Gaming Compact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervises, directs, and/or performs surveillance activities in support of Gaming Compact, Tribal, state, and federal regulations and policies.
  2. Assigns work schedules and evaluates employees’ progress/performance.
  3. Counsels’ employees with work related problems and process grievance requests.
  4. Interviews and selects applicants for hire and employees for promotion.
  5. Oversees the work of and trains surveillance technicians.
  6. Adheres to casino and departmental policies/regulations.
  7. Prepares and submits departmental reports and specialized documents.
  8. Reviews, investigates, and reports on cheating, theft, embezzlement, and other illegal activities.
  9. Maintains contact with casino and security personnel with regard to table infractions and violations, and/or suspicious activities needing attention.
  10. Directs surveillance monitoring of soft/hard count transactions.
  11. Oversees the maintenance of a casino employee information file with photo identification.
  12. Spot checks and reviews tapes and interprets surveillance material for casino use/or legal purposes.
  13. Monitors the preparation and maintenance of official departmental logs.
  14. Nurtures an exceptional team environment, developing a positive work culture and creating a well-informed, collaborative, and enthusiastic team.
  15. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Provides immediate supervision to front line Team Members.
  2. Sets business parameters and delegates day-to-day tasks to achieve operational objectives.
  3. Provides guidance, training, counseling, recognition, and ongoing feedback, primarily to non-exempt staff members.
  4. Delegates and assigns duties to the reporting staff in a clear and concise manner and set expectations for performance excellence.
  5. May support management in the completion of administrative responsibilities.
  6. Maintains a positive attitude and outlook and encourages the team to gain support and create a positive morale.
  7. Creates an environment of teamwork, by communicating common goals, and showing appreciation for Team Members contributions and on-going support.
  8. Demonstrates relevant experience in the industry or field, often including previous roles in leadership or supervisory positions.

Key Performance Indicators

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Ability to supervise and direct the work of employees.
  2. Ability to assign work schedules.
  3. Ability to pass vision test, eyesight correctable to 20/20, and have no colorblindness.
  4. Ability to train assigned staff.
  5. Ability to identify violations involving casino policies and procedures.
  6. Ability to draft standard reports and documents.
  7. Ability to visually observe and discern screen images and make recommendations.
  8. Ability to make decisions under stressful conditions.
  9. Ability to work odd and unusual hours.
  10. Ability to pass a stringent background investigation.
  11. Knowledge of and ability to use video recording and audio equipment.
  12. Knowledge of gaming rules, regulations, procedures to include card games, video slot machines, bingo, table games and poker.
  13. Knowledge of surveillance methods and procedures.
  14. Knowledge of basic first-aid procedures required.
  15. Knowledge of floor/station money and chip handling responsibilities.
  16. Ability to create an environment of teamwork by communicating common goals and showing appreciation for team members contributions and on-going support.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Four and a half years (4 1/2) training and/or experience in surveillance, law enforcement, criminology, criminal justice, security, military, or a related field.
  3. Two (2) years’ prior supervisory experience or one (1) year previous casino experience.

Note: Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience.

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
  2. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  3. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.

Balancing

Feeling

Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Finger Dexterity

Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Grasping

Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Hearing

Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Kneeling

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. (Up to 40 lbs.)

Pulling

Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. (Up to 40 lbs.)

Pushing

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward. (Up to 40 lbs.)

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Seeing

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Walking

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on various work surfaces throughout internal or external locations.

Sitting

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Standing

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Stooping
