Compensation: $15.58 to $19.47 per hour

Position Summary

Performs public safety and recreational work supervising, swimming and enforcing regulations at a hotel pool as well as providing for the guest’s comfort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Observes and patrols pool and enforces safety regulations.
  2. Assists swimmers from water when in danger.
  3. Performs resuscitation and first aid when appropriate.
  4. Cleans general pool areas and refills supplies to ensure a “Spotless” esthetically pleasing environment and adequate supplies for our guests.
  5. Assists guests as needed, including bringing supplies (towels, etc.).
  6. Demonstrates a pleasant and enthusiastic demeanor at all times.
  7. Some positions provide counter work as assigned.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  9. Must be knowledgeable of daily “stand-ups” and actively participate in daily goals.
  10. Must participate in computer-based learning and implement these skills into the workplace.

This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
  2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of resuscitation, first aide, and CPR/PR techniques.

  4. Knowledge of swimming pool equipment sufficient to be able to perform minor maintenance work on the equipment.
  5. Skill in understanding and applying oral, written, illustrated or demonstrated instructions.

  7. Interpersonal Skills - Considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others; adjusts approaches to suit different people and situations; may deal with people who are difficult, hostile, or distressed.
  8. Must have enthusiasm and posses excellent customer service skills.
  9. Ability to follow directions and requests from guests.
  10. Must have a friendly and outgoing personality.
  11. Must be detailed oriented.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  2. Prior experience as a pool attendant

License/Certifications/Registrations

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  2. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.
  3. Required to successfully complete the CPR Training upon hire offered by Sandia Resort.

Description

Balancing

Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Climbing

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

Crawling

Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.

Crouching

Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Feeling

Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

Grasping

Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Hearing

Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Kneeling

Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

Lifting

Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently and demonstration of this ability required.

Pulling

Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Pushing

Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arms and leg(s) to reach, pull, carry, lift, twist and rotate in any direction.

Running

May involve running when necessary.

Seeing

The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.

Walking

Job requirements include, in the performance of duties, walking throughout the work area, on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floor, cement structures and surfaces.

Sitting

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Standing

Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Stooping

Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Talking

Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

List Working Conditions Required:

  1. Duties are performed indoors with certain outdoor activity as required. Outdoor duties are subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather.
  2. Subject to potential hazards such as cleaning solvents and cleaning compounds.
  3. Subject to potential hazards such as heights, motorized equipment, and hand tools.
  4. Additional potential hazards include exposure to infections, diseases, fumes, odors, dust, mist, and gases.
  5. Duties may involve walking, climbing, crawling, standing for long periods of time, sitting, crouching, kneeling, running, and the ability to assume prone position.
  6. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required as approved by management.
  7. Must be able to work long hours under stressful conditions.
  8. Specific physical body movements require the following:

b. Arms-reach, carries, push, pull, twists, rotate

c. Legs-lift, push, pull, twists, rotate, balance
