Schedule of Work: (not a remote or hybrid position)

- Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

- Rotating Saturday: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

As a Security Officer at Sandia Area, you are responsible for delivering excellent service while maintaining personal accountability in your actions and behaviors. By prioritizing member satisfaction and operational efficiency, you directly contribute to the organization’s mission of strengthening financial well-being for our members and community. Reporting directly to the Regional Branch Manager, the Security Officer is responsible for providing security services that ensure the safety and security of employees and members while on Credit Union property and in use of Credit Union facilities. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

Department Operational Support

  • Patrols all assigned Credit Union facility and parking lot areas, always maintaining high visibility.
  • Appropriately acts on threats and departure of employees or member security.
  • Assist in controlling the entrance and departure of employees, visitors and vehicles.
  • Maintains awareness of surroundings without distracting Credit Union personnel from their responsibilities.
  • Assists in the investigation of crimes committed against the Credit Union.
  • Assists in evicting trespassers and violators, using the appropriate force, when necessary, in detaining perpetrators while following legal protocols before relevant authorities arrive.
  • Assists in retrieving video and timeframes of incidents as requested by management.
  • Ensures that incident reports are completed accurately and timely.
  • Able to assist with all emergency situations by providing assistance to employees and members.
  • Maintains the security and confidentiality of member interactions. 
  • Attend quarterly meetings to remain up to date with changes.
  • Accessible to other locations when needed and able to make schedule adjustments when requested to accommodate needs at other locations for various reasons.

Compliance & Policy Adherence

  • Remain in compliance and up to date with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Inform management when current licenses need to be renewed as well as any updated uniform needs.
  • Attends, participates, and completes all required internal training.  
  • Actively inform peer security guards of any potential danger from existing member(s) visiting multiple branches.
  • Actively attend branch huddles to stay current on updates or changes to existing procedures.
  • Fully engages with the opening/closing procedures of the branch.
  • Ability to assist with alarms and surveillance equipment when needed.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying informed on industry trends and best practices.
  • Willing to undergo background and credit checks as required by federal and state regulations.
  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and legal guidelines, including adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other applicable financial regulations.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Expertise in security operations with a requisite understanding of financial institution operations.
  • Must be certified to carry and operate a handgun or other weapon.
  • Must be skilled in the appropriate use of force.
  • Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with employees, members and visitors.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive in seeking professional growth, embracing both formal and informal development opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability to new responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented with a strong collaborative mindset, actively supporting team members and contributing to a positive and high-performing environment.
  • Ability to perform essential functions, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • HSD or GED
  • Two (2)year(s) of applicable experience required.
  • Graduation from the Albuquerque Police Academy, New Mexico State Law Enforcement Academy, or other equivalent law enforcement training required.
