Job Description

About the Role:

The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring that all technical and design aspects meet the required standards and client expectations. This position requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed engineering designs, prepare accurate cost estimations, and manage project schedules effectively. The Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating project activities, including the preparation and review of shop drawings, managing change orders, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations. By leveraging engineering expertise and project management tools, the role aims to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Ultimately, the Project Engineer will help deliver engineering projects that support the company’s strategic goals and client satisfaction across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in project engineering or a similar role within the engineering or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to create and interpret detailed shop drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, including cost estimation and schedule management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with change order management and contract administration.
  • Background in multidisciplinary project coordination involving mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering disciplines.
  • Advanced skills in engineering design software beyond AutoCAD, such as Revit or SolidWorks.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review detailed engineering designs and shop drawings using AutoCAD and or other design software.
  • Prepare and manage project cost estimations, budgets, and schedules using Microsoft Project and other project management tools.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution and timely resolution of issues.
  • Monitor project progress, conduct site visits as necessary, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinates the design, development, scheduling, resource allocation, execution, and closeout of assigned Engineering projects for the electrical system at Fort Bragg.
  • Develops estimates and tracks expenses for assigned projects.
  • Utilizes a proactive control process to manage changes in project requirements and/or scope.
  • Attends project planning meetings with government or other end-users to plan, design, and collaborate on project scopes.

Skills:

The required skills, such as AutoCAD and/or other software and shop drawing preparation, are essential for creating precise engineering designs and technical documentation that guide project execution. Project engineering and design skills enable the candidate to develop innovative solutions and ensure technical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle. Cost estimation and change order management skills are critical for maintaining project budgets and efficiently adapting to evolving project requirements. Project coordination and the use of Microsoft Project facilitate effective communication, scheduling, and resource allocation among diverse teams and stakeholders. Preferred skills, including advanced design software and professional certifications, enhance the candidate’s ability to manage complex projects and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering practices.

Other Job Duties/Functions

  • All employees are assigned responsibilities in our System Restoration Plan and are required to work during major events.
  • Other Duties As Assigned.
  • Required to work during adverse weather conditions. Subject to being called in to work on major outages.

Working Conditions:

Normally works weekdays from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with overtime possible to meet organizational needs. Some overnight travel may be expected. Will be required to work all inclement weather events. This is an in-person only position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
