Transporter – Skilled Nursing Facility
This combined role supports the facility by providing safe and reliable resident transportation while also managing central supply operations. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working directly with residents and clinical staff. This position helps ensure smooth daily operations by transporting residents to appointments and maintaining the facility’s medical supply inventory.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Transportation
Safely transport residents within the facility and to outside medical appointments.
Assist with wheelchair, stretcher, and transfer needs while ensuring resident comfort and dignity.
Communicate appointment times, delays, or special instructions to nursing and administrative teams.
Maintain accurate logs for all transports.
Ensure transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers) is clean, safe, and functional.
Central Supply Management
Order, receive, stock, and distribute medical and non‑medical supplies throughout the facility.
Maintain organized and labeled supply rooms, ensuring all items are stored properly.
Conduct routine inventory checks and monitor par levels to avoid shortages.
Track supply usage, assist with cost‑control efforts, and report any discrepancies.
Clean, label, and store equipment in accordance with facility standards.
Communicate with vendors regarding orders, substitutions, or delivery issues.
Qualifications
Experience in healthcare, central supply, transportation, or long‑term care preferred.
Ability to lift, push, and transport residents and supply boxes as needed.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Good customer‑service and communication skills when interacting with residents and staff.
Basic computer skills for ordering, documentation, and inventory systems.
