Kamatics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Coatings to support manufacturing operations with a focus on coating processes, surface treatments, and fixturing development used in aerospace component manufacturing. This role will develop and optimize manufacturing processes that support proprietary coating technologies while ensuring production methods meet customer requirements, quality standards, and productivity targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, layouts, and sequencing for machining and coating operations.
  • Provide detailed drawings, sketches, and technical guidance to drafting personnel to support manufacturing process development.
  • Support proprietary coating and surface treatment processes, including development of fixturing, masking methods, and process improvements.
  • Apply expertise in machining processes, CNC programming, cutting tool technology, and fixture design to establish best practices for production.
  • Support specialized surface treatment processes such as spray coating, masking, grit blasting, and related coating preparation methods.
  • Collaborate with Machinists and Coating Operators to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and drive process improvements.
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
  • Research and evaluate new equipment; develop Return on Investment (ROI) analyses to support capital acquisition decisions.
  • Develop manufacturing methods and work instructions for new products and equipment to meet productivity and quality standards.
  • Determine tooling, fixtures, jaws, speeds, and feeds required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain machining programs using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems to meet productivity, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Train Production Engineers (PE) and support knowledge transfer within the engineering team.
  • Provide engineering support to assigned Value Streams and cross-train to support additional Value Streams as needed.
  • Act as a technical resource and troubleshoot manufacturing, machining, and assembly issues in collaboration with Applications Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, suppliers, and customers.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to all safety and environmental policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of machine shop experience required.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems is essential.

  • CAD / 3D modeling (Unigraphics or similar)

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting and moving of materials up to 50 lbs (15–40%)
  • Frequent bending and twisting
  • Frequent use of hands to grasp tools and materials
  • Frequent visual and mental concentration
  • Continual standing

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required to support production needs
  • Occasional travel may be required

Salary : $81,348 - $102,000
