Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Youth Ministries to lead and inspire our youth community. Overarching Goals
- Help youth grow in discipleship and enhance their relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Work towards Vision and Goals established by the Pastor and Administrative Counci
- Develop and Manage a Budget for Youth Ministries
- Build relationships with youth and families of SCC and the neighboring community.
- Promote a non-judgmental atmosphere where all people are welcome, valued, and treated with respect.
- Promote the ministries of SCC to families with youth and to SCC & community outreach program participants and throughout the surrounding community.
Duties and Essential Job Functions
1. Provide oversite for and coordinate a comprehensive Youth ministry program at SCC t to include opportunities for worship, discipleship, missions and fellowship.
- Establish Youth ministry goals in alignment with Administrative Council’s vision and goals for SCC.
- Attend all Youth events, retreats and missions.
- Facilitate recruitment, training, equipping and scheduling of volunteers for youth ministry programs as necessary.
- Purchase Curriculum and necessary supplies with budgeted funds.
2. Worship & Discipleship
- Regularly attend SCC worship services/events
- Facilitate summer Surf Club worship/Bible study
- Facilitate Sunday evening Shoreline Youth program, including coordinating meals & programming, and developing a leadership team.
- Plan and Organize Youth Sunday and/or Youth worship opportunities as scheduled with the Pastor and Administrative Council
- Participate in worship leadership as requested by Pastor
3. Vacation Bible School
- Serve as SCC staff liaison to VBS leaders and volunteers.
- Coordinate with VBS Leaders on the status and needs of the ministry.
- Coordinate with VBS ministry leaders as to budgetary needs.
4. Special/Seasonal Ministry Events
- Provide oversite and coordination with ministry leaders to plan and organize periodic special events geared towards outreach and inclusion of families with children/youth (ie, fall festival, beach days, Advent wreath making, Easter egg hunt, etc.)
Secondary Responsibilities
- Work with the pastor to implement & train volunteers and administer the SCC Safe Sanctuary Policy.
- Communicate regularly with parents of youth involved in SCC ministries.
- Communicate regularly with the SCC Administrative Council and church membership concerning the ongoing events and needs of Youth ministry programs.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and periodic staff visioning/training events.
- Additional related job functions and responsibilities may be added and/or removed from time to time, at the discretion of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, to ensure the success of the church’s financial and administrative program needs.
Qualifications
- Profess Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Strong magnetic interpersonal skills – including strength in writing and communicating verbally. He/she should be able to organize and manage multiple groups of people.
- Must have experience working with children and/or youth in a Christian church or other Christian setting and be able to build relationships with multiple age groups.
- Must be able to work well with others as a team member, and able to satisfy the goals and activities above. The hours per week will fluctuate to accommodate occasional youth retreats/missions.
Required Licenses/Certifications
A successful background check is required at the start of employment and periodically afterward as deemed necessary by the Staff Parish Relations Committee. Complete SCC Safe Sanctuary training once every three years.
Pay: $18,000.00 - $20,000.00 per year
