Commercial Solar Project Manager

As a Project Manager at Sandbar Solar & Electric, you will play a key role in leading and delivering successful solar and electrical construction projects. You will oversee all phases of project execution, from planning and procurement through completion and closeout. You will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, managing budgets and schedules, ensuring customer satisfaction, and providing positive financial results for the company. Sandbar is a turnkey solution for our clients. We deliver tailored solutions to our customers’ energy demands with firm commitment to customer service. A strong candidate for this position would have a very solid understanding of the pre-construction process of plan development for solar, solar paired with BESS and complex microgrid projects for both commercial and residential projects. This position is being offered to qualified individuals that would work in an in-office environment with some on site presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support business development efforts by assisting with project scoping, estimating, procurement, cultivating client relationships, and identifying new project opportunities.
• Manage the complete project lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed safely, on budget, within schedule, and to Sandbar’s quality standards.
• Collaborate with clients, field personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders to establish project scope, objectives, deliverables, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Communicate project expectations clearly and effectively while serving as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and project teams.
• Identify and resolve project challenges proactively to minimize impacts on schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage project scope and ensure all changes are properly documented, priced, approved, and executed through formal change order processes.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate project team members to promote accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
• Ensure compliance with Sandbar Solar & Electric’s safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
• Maintain an active presence in the field through regular job site visits to monitor progress, support crews, and ensure project success.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations and project objectives.
• Manage a balance of new and in-flight commercial and high-end residential customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and field experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of project management experience in the solar, electrical, renewable energy, or commercial construction industries.
• Strong understanding of construction estimating, scheduling, project controls, budgeting, contract administration, and cost management.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and negotiating change orders and project modifications.
• Proficiency with Netsuite, Accubid, Procore, and the balance of Microsoft products.
• Knowledge of job costing systems, financial reporting, forecasting, and project closeout procedures.
• Ability to develop and manage critical path schedules and understand construction sequencing across multiple trades.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and project requirements.
• Proven ability to build productive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Have a good understanding of complex microgrid projects and the complications of AHJ requirements for BESS systems.

Salary

$110,000 - $130,000
