What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ipm (Integrated Pest Management) Technician at Sanctuary Florida position at Sanctuary Medicinals?
Sanctuary Medicinals in Apopka, FL is looking for one IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Lead to join our team. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and reliable. The IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Lead will act as the hands-on resource for maintaining our IPM compliance and procedures at Sanctuary. Candidates should have 2-4 years of experience in the fields of entomology, IPM, and/or Horticultural pest control.
Starting rate at $21.00
Preventative and Reactive Plant Health
- Ability to identify herms/plant health/disease
- Measuring and applying beneficial inoculation for the root zone
- Cleaning up of algae and dead plant material off trays
- Training/raising lights to keep canopy underneath grow lights
- Foliar sprays
Preventative and Reactive Pest Treatment
Ability to distinguish between pest and beneficial bugs
- Application of beneficial bugs across flower rooms
- Application of pest traps across flower rooms
- Maintaining pest traps around the facility
- Pesticide sprays
- Applications of foliar/pesticide sprays and inoculation
- Measuring chemicals, pesticides, or nutrients for foliar sprays
- Driving a lift, wearing correct PPE, spray plants on all 3 tiers
- Measuring and applying nutrients for root inoculation
Cleanliness and Contamination of Facility
- Contamination of plant diseases/molds/pests
- Maintain hygiene and cross contamination across the facility
- Daily maintenance across facility for foot scrubbers/sticky mats/iso spray stations
- Daily maintenance checking pest traps around facility
- Restocking flower room PPE
- Monthly/Quarterly clean-up for different air curtains/air filters around facility
Specialized Tasks
- Complete projects that would benefit the grow rooms/facility that are proactive in nature to mitigate risk of oversight
- Cross training with the Flower team for collaboration at times of high demand
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of plant health preferred
- Knowledge of pests and pesticides preferred
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Cannabis industry knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in an environment with kief in the air.
- Drive a lift 8 hours a day after training
- Be in the dark 8 hours a day
- Stand or sit 8 hours a day
- Working in hot temperatures
- Wear PPE (can be claustrophobic with a mask on in the dark)
- Lift and carry 50 lbs
- Disposal of pests
