Position Summary: The Epic Technical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the design, build, implementation, and optimization of Epic Ambulatory applications. This role provides technical leadership to a team of analysts and builders, ensuring system integrity, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals. The supervisor collaborates with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Essential Functions of the Job: Leadership & Team Management: Supervise and mentor Epic Ambulatory analysts and technical staff Delegate tasks, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations Ensure adherence to departmental policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements Application Build & Optimization: Oversee configuration, build, and maintenance of Epic Ambulatory workflows, templates, and integrated applications Lead optimization efforts to improve usability, documentation efficiency, and clinical workflows Monitor new release features and determine upgrade strategies Technical Build Tasks: Build and configure Epic Ambulatory workflows to support clinical operations Design and maintain SmartForms, SmartLinks, and SmartTexts for documentation efficiency Design and maintain SmartGroups, SmartSets and Order Sets for order entry efficiency Manage interface builds and ensures seamless integration with ancillary systems Create and optimize custom reports and dashboards for operational and clinical needs Maintain system integrity through regular audits and performance checks Implement and test new Epic features and upgrades in collaboration with stakeholders. Project Management: Manage application-related projects through the full lifecycle, including planning, testing, and implementation Ensure compliance with change management protocols and governance processes Coordinate vendor resources for upgrades and enhancements Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as liaison between end users, IT teams, and Epic representatives Communicate effectively with clinicians, administrators, and technical teams to gather requirements and provide updates Documentation & Training: Maintain build documentation and knowledge transfer materials Provide training and mentorship to team members and end users on system functionality Maintain regression testing documentation with the team to utilize during software updates and complex build changes to ensure new build is implemented without impact to existing build and workflows Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned Job Requirements Experience Required: Minimum 3-5 years of healthcare IT experience, including Epic Ambulatory build and support At least 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) Certifications Required: EpicCare Ambulatory certification required Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Strong technical and functional knowledge of Epic Ambulatory Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job: Epic certification in related modules (Cadence, Prelude, Resolute, Healthy Planet) Experience with HL7 interfaces and integration Project management experience Equipment Used: Computers, Software systems Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Prolonged, extensive, and considerable sitting Manual dexterity and mobility Ability to handle multiple job task functions simultaneously Ability to work harmoniously with others as a team member May be required to work evenings and/or weekends Universal Requirements: Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
