What are the responsibilities and job description for the [REPOST] Counselor 0.167 | Windemere Ranch Middle School (2025-2026) position at San Ramon Valley Unified School District?
The counselor will be a partner in leadership with the school administrators. In addition to the duties listed below, the counselor will have a role in helping to develop a positive school culture. As the counselor, a concentrated effort on developing a master schedule which reflects the philosophy of site administration, establishing procedures and programs which meet the unique needs of our student body, and developing systems for two-way communication with parents and the community is essential for success. Much effort needs to be devoted to facilitating a smooth transition for our students, planning groups and activities which support the focus of the school program and insure the academic and socio-emotional growth of our students.
Counseling Duties and Responsibilities
? Meet with students in groups or one-on-one as needed
? Prepare and present four year plans in classrooms and individually
? Coordinate and monitor 504 plans using district paperwork
? Coordinate and monitor ELL students
? Design and coordinate SST process triggered by attendance and/or academics
? Alphabet responsibility for IEP’s as assigned. Understand Special Education policy and procedure
? Coordinate the AVID program
? SARB administration and referrals
? Establish and coordinate 9th grade and new student orientation
? Maintain and communicate an up to date student information center
? Available to students on a drop in basis, visible during lunch and break
? Communicate with staff student concerns as needed
? Communicate Scholarship program
? Assist with testing for in-coming 8th graders
? Develop and revise course policy booklet and provide staff procedures for submitting courses for approval
? Assist staff with classroom modification strategies for all students
? Develop appropriate interventions for students in danger of failing
? Assist staff in analysis of results of standardized testing including STAR, CAHSEE, CELDT, AP, etc.
? Leadership role in working with students regarding promotion/retention
? Coordinate on site tutoring reading and other support services
? Liaison to a specific department
? Assist with the development of a site Crisis Team
? Coordinate services of outside agencies i.e. Discovery Counseling,
? Master Schedule, familiar with alternative scheduling models, ability to use SASI software to schedule students
? Actively seek grant opportunities, complete grant applications
? Coordinate yearly academic awards night, and other recognition for student achievements
? Assist in coordination of and attend all orientation activities (parent and student), site visits, and registration events
? Communicate with feeder schools to be proactive in scheduling yearling articulation dates for staff
? Attend Wednesday morning collaboration meetings
? Attend parent and student meetings throughout the school year prior to the opening of the new high school
? Attend PTA meetings occasionally to make presentations
? Meet with parents as necessary re: student academic or emotional needs
? Visibility and supervision as needed during the school day and at evening events
? Consultant to PTA and Academic Booster Groups
? Interface with student leadership class re: service opportunities in the community
? Attend College Seminars and programs to understand and communicate the college entrance requirements including NCAA Clearing House to parents and students
? Coordinate Financial Planning Night, Middle School Night and Scholarship Night for parents and students
? Coordinate communication between Venture and Del Amigo
Salary : $11,868 - $22,563
