JOB TITLE: Technology Services Technician WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Repair and maintain district-wide technology equipment and applications including but not limited to: computer hardware, peripherals, data communications, software configuration, data integrity, wireless connectivity and applications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED required
Prior certification in one or more technical certifications (CompTIA A , Net , Security /
Microsoft MCP, MCDST / Apple ACSP / or similar)
Associates Degree in computer-related field or equivalent preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of computer and software installation and maintenance
Knowledge of the Windows, Mac, Chrome, Android, and iOS operating systems
Abilility to provide customer support via telephone, remote access and on site assistance
Knowledge of wireless networking protocols, clients, and access points
Mastery of the Microsoft Office productivity suite
Ability to develop and maintain documentation of systems and methods
Knowledge of mobile computing platforms and management
Minimum Experience:
Two years installing, repairing and upgrading Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and/or Chrome hardware and software, computer peripherals, network cabling and fiber, and wireless networks
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Monitors security compliance in accordance with policies and procedures
- Provide direction to end-users for the appropriate care and maintenance of computing and communications equipment
- Prepare and deliver computer hardware to the campuses
- Repair computer hardware or arrange to have it repaired by an outside source if under warranty or beyond normal requirements
- Install educational software approved by the Department of Technology
- Use Help Desk software to prioritize work, identify trends and document productivity
- Analyze and troubleshoot hardware, software and data integrity issues, correct problems and return computing systems and data to full functionality using independent judgment and initiative
- Conduct integration testing of computing systems, peripherals, and software
- Provide technical telephone, remote, and on-site support for all related software, hardware, data, and communication systems
- Configure, install, upgrade and support Local Area Networks (LAN), laptops and standalone PC’s, and peripherals
- Image and replace computer equipment and peripherals on an as needed or provided basis
- Provide collaborative input to research and development of new technology integration
- Develop and deliver technical application and hardware training for technology team and other SMCISD staff
- Participate in department-led training, research, and special projects
- Recommend and/or develop department training, research efforts, and special projects
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy
- Work effectively with people; be innovative and service-oriented
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Recommend, evaluate, and implement systems to improve the efficiency of the Technology Services team
