San Luis Coastal USD is recruiting for English Learner Aides. Current openings are at Baywood Elementary School in Los Osos and Pacheco Elementary School in San Luis Obispo. Hours vary by position, and may be between 3.25 - 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday. We will use the eligibility list created to fill the current vacancies, and also future vacancies that may occur over a six month period. Future vacancies may be at any site in the District, and hours may vary. English Learner Aides assist a teacher, or teachers, with a variety of instructional support tasks for EL (English Learner) students in a school setting, and perform related duties as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires experience working with English Learners, the ability to fluently speak and write both English and Spanish, and graduation from High School (or the equivalent). Additionally, either 48 semester units of college are required OR a passing score on an NCLB exam which will be given by our District if needed. A resume is preferred with your application. A letter of recommendation is required. College transcripts are required (if you have completed 48 semester units of college or more); or if you have not completed 48 semester units, include a note requesting a date to take the NCLB exam. PURPOSE: The purpose of this recruitment is to fill current vacancies, and to establish an eligibility list to fill vacancies that occur in the District over at six month period. Hours, location, and work schedule may vary for future vacancies. Fingerprint and TB clearance will be required prior to starting work. Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and experience on a job-related basis, as well as to ensure all required documents are attached. Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an exam. Candidates who meet minimum requirements for experience but not education will be invited to take the NCLB exam. Candidates who meet eligibility requirements and pass the exam will be invited to oral board interviews, tentatively planned for June 16, 2026. Candidates must pass oral board interviews to be added to the eligibility list. The top three (3) ranks of candidates after the exam and oral board interviews will be invited to a hiring interview. SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months. After successful submission of your application, you will receive a confirmation email.
