BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation and/or Transportation Supervisor, operate a school bus over designated routes in transporting regular and special education students to and from school, activities and events; provide safe and efficient transportation for District students. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Bus Operator I class operates a school bus over a designated route. The Bus Operator II incumbents are proficient in all types of school bus vehicles, provide safety classes for students and are more involved in parent pay issues.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualification: Under the direction of the Director of Transportation or designee, operate a school bus over designated routes in transporting regular and special education students to and from school, activities, and events; provide safe and efficient transportation for District students. Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid California Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B Driver’s License with required endorsements (PS) and restriction (29). Valid California Special Driver’s Certificate (DL-45). Valid First Aid (if required by CHP), Medical Certificate (DL-51A), and Medical Examination Report (DL-51). Incumbents are subject to a pre-employment drug test and mandatory random drug and alcohol testing during employment as required by Federal Law. Even if you do not possess all of the required certifications, please apply; TRAINING PROVIDED AT NO COST.
