Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Stockton, CA, for the role of Operator. The Operator will be responsible for safely operating transit vehicles, adhering to established routes and schedules, and providing excellent customer service to passengers. Responsibilities include ensuring passenger safety, collecting fares, assisting individuals with special needs, obeying traffic laws, and maintaining an accurate log of routes and incidents. Operators are also expected to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles to ensure operational safety and report any mechanical issues.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of traffic regulations, safety standards, and vehicle operations
- Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with diverse passengers
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle emergencies efficiently
- Basic mechanical understanding to perform safety checks and report vehicle maintenance issues
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Previous experience in public transit operations or driving large vehicles is a plus
