The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.
Summary
The WO Utility Maintenance Technician performs preventative and predictive maintenance activities and assists in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of water treatment, supply, transmission and distribution and /or wastewater collection, and conveyance, treatment and disposal systems equipment. A person in this role is an effective troubleshooter and is able to effectively diagnose issues with electrical and control systems in order to install, rebuild and at times repair equipment and machines all while achieving optimal safety, efficiency, quality and reliability standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Processes maintenance activities and work orders using the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) and properly documents, organizes, and files correspondence, reports and records related to maintenance activities within the system.
- Conducts preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance and diagnostics/ troubleshooting on mechanical equipment, grounds, buildings, and control panels by performing routine checks of performance and cleaning and lubricating equipment or machinery.
- Trains, mentors and develops staff to effectively perform job tasks and meet safety guidelines to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the department/division and SJRA.
- Operates vehicles for operational purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct maintenance duties.
- Operates COL-required and non-COL required vehicles such as combination sewer cleaners for maintenance purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct maintenance duties in a safe manner that is in compliance with Authority policy and federal, state, and local laws.
- Assist with complex troubleshooting activities and repairs on system equipment.
- Completes all tasks as scheduled and prioritized, including routine and emergency work, to assure minimal impact to operations.
- Follows safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures. Utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment.
- This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
- This position is classified as primary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as usual or as needed (1) during an emergency event, (2) in preparation for an emergency event, and/or (3) during recovery from an emergency event as directed by their direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of general work experience.
- At least 2 years machinery, mechanical and electrical.
- Texas Journeyman Electrician License Preferred.
- TCEQ Distribution Class C Preferred.
- TCEQ Collections Class Ill Preferred.
- CDL - SJRA CDL Certified Driver Preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s license with an insurable driving record required.
