Job Title: Per Diem Medical Assistant
Location: Multi-Specialty Surgery Center
Employment Type: Per Diem (As Needed)
Position Summary:
The Per Diem Medical Assistant supports clinical and operational functions within a multi-specialty surgery center. This role is essential in maintaining efficient patient flow, ensuring adequate supply levels, and assisting nursing staff with day-to-day patient care tasks. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock, organize, and maintain medical and surgical supplies across all departments
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to appropriate personnel
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and distributing medical supplies and equipment
- Transport patients safely between pre-op, operating rooms, and recovery areas
- Assist nursing staff with patient preparation and basic care needs
- Change and prepare patient beds, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for incoming patients
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment in accordance with infection control standards
- Assist with bay turnover between patients
- Support clinical staff with non-invasive tasks as needed
- Follow all safety, confidentiality, and compliance regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a healthcare or surgical setting is a plus
- Ability to lift, move, and transport patients and equipment safely
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Basic understanding of infection control and safety protocols
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced surgical center with multiple specialties
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending required
- Exposure to clinical and surgical environments
Schedule:
- Per diem; hours and shifts may vary based on staffing needs
- Flexibility required, including potential early mornings or extended shifts
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds
- Manual dexterity and mobility to assist with patient care tasks
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
