What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parent Partner position at San Gabriel Children's Center?

Billingual in Spanish is preferred to work with our clients.

  • Personal experience of having a child or children who have received services through Department of Mental Health, Department of Children and Family Services or Probation, required.
  • This Parent Partner/IHBS Provider is responsible for providing in-home support services and related activities with parent/caregiver of client receiving field-based services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides advocacy services to all consumers/families in person through feild-based work
  • Assist in providing field contacts in a timely manner to access and provide services to meet consumer’s need and assists consumer and caretakers in linking up to those community services
  • Provides in-home and when applicable phone support services to client parents/caregivers and related activities as called for in the collaborative client treatment plan
  • Collaborates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to address the needs of the consumer/families and facilitate community services link-up
  • Reports any concerns to the appropriate team member and supervisor as they relate to case management
  • Helps team to identify consumer/family needs and or triggers (within a strength-based model) to escalation and barriers and makes appropriate recommendations to caretakers and treatment team
  • Collaborates with all levels of management, staff, care takers, parents and consumers (advisory groups) and act as a liaison between consumer, agency and community resources
  • Participates in team/staff conferences regarding solutions to consumers’ barriers
  • Provides individualized treatment planning and helps in a timely manner client parent/caregiver access resources and keep appointments, finding resources, etc.

Requirements:

· High School Diploma/GED and one to three years of experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families; or some college with an emphasis on social work/psychology plus experience providing direct service to the target population.

· Personal experience of having a child or children who have received services through Department of Mental Health, Department of Children and Family Services or Probation, required.

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

· Willing to travel in and around Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.

· Obtain, within 30 days of employment, Pro-ACT, Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification and maintain such certification current through the term of employment with SGCC.

· Maintain a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance if transporting clients/families. Must have held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain Live Scan clearance, pre-employment physical, TB test and drug test.

San Gabriel Children’s Center has embarked upon implementing and embedding Trauma Informed Care (TIC) principles throughout the organization. Candidates should be aware that all employees are involved in the implementation and the practice of Trauma Informed Care within the organization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
