About Us: The San Francisco Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) is an innovative
independent 501(c)(3) corporation established to mobilize private capital and civic expertise to
fund and implement high impact initiatives that jumpstart long-term economic development in
downtown San Francisco. We are committed to excellence and are looking for a talented
individual to join our team as Development Manager. More information can be found at
www.sfddc.org.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a highly organized and mission-driven Development
Manager to join our small, entrepreneurial team. This person will be at the center of our
fundraising and donor engagement efforts—supporting relationship management, keeping
systems tight, supporting donor communications, and ensuring no ball gets dropped.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a few years of fundraising experience who thrives
on building systems and owning operations end-to-end. You’ll work closely with the COO, a
senior fundraising lead, the CEO, and board members, and play a pivotal role as the
organization matures and scales its development infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Building: Help to establish and maintain donor databases, tracking tools, and
internal protocols.
● Donor Tracking & Follow-up: Manage contact customer relationship database, track
outreach, schedule follow-ups, and help close the loop with prospective and existing
donors.
● Project Management: Develop and manage checklists, timelines, and internal workflows
to ensure fundraising efforts stay on track.
● Donor Communications: Draft newsletters and updates for donors and correspond with
donors as part of donor prospecting and stewardship.
● Meeting Support: Draft briefing materials, coordinate donor meetings, and track action
items coming out of each conversation.
● Gift Processing & Acknowledgment: Help ensure timely, accurate processing of
contributions and coordinate donor acknowledgments.
● Event Support: Assist with planning and logistics for donor events, convenings, and
briefings.
● Research: Conduct background research on potential funders, including foundations,
philanthropists, and corporate prospects.
Qualifications:
● 4 years of relevant work experience in fundraising, development, project coordination,
or related fields
● Exceptionally organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
● A natural systems-builder—you love creating and improving checklists, processes, and
trackers
● Strong writer and communicator; able to draft professional correspondence and
summarize key information clearly
● Comfortable working in a fast-moving, startup-like environment with many moving pieces
● Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive information
● Passionate about San Francisco and interested in civic impact
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience selecting, implementing, or managing a fundraising CRM
● Familiarity with gift processing workflows, tax receipt coordination, and grant reporting
requirements
● Experience supporting leadership- or board-level fundraising materials and donor
briefings
Benefits:
● Salary range: $90,000–$100,000 annually.
● Comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
● 401k employer match.
● Generous PTO policy.
● Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
● A collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Location: This role will be based in San Francisco, with a minimum of three days per week
in-person at our downtown office, in alignment with the organization’s mission.
