What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Director, Communicable Disease position at San Francisco Department of Public Health?
The Deputy Director, CD Branch, under the direction of the CD Branch Director, will be responsible for:
- providing clinical leadership, subject matter expertise, operational guidance, and program and personnel supervision for the Immunization Program team that is tasked with obtaining and distributing vaccine supply and implementing vaccination campaigns in San Francisco.
- serving as Medical Director of SFDPH’s Adult Immunization & Travel Clinic (AITC), including supervision of the clinic’s administrative and clinical personnel; and
- supporting CD control activities within the Branch, including backing up the CD Controller and participating in the CD physician overnight call pool.
Location: 25 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA
Schedule/Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
To be successful it is preferred you possess some of the qualities listed:
- Board certified or board eligible in pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, or preventive medicine, or, if in another specialty, equivalent experience with immunizations
- MPH or equivalent experience in public health
- Experience supervising clinical and/or administrative staff
- Excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work independently in a high-pressure environment
- Participation in grant applications, budgeting, and/or management
- Commitment to providing first-class care and service to all members of the DPH service population, with heightened sensitivity and awareness to racial, ethnic, and culturally diverse members of the DPH’s workforce and patient populations
