Position Summary
The Director of Career Services, reporting to the Dean of Students, provides vision and strategic leadership for campus-wide comprehensive career services which serve all undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni at San Francisco Bay University. This position is responsible for providing individualized career advising, developing and facilitating employment training workshops and partnerships, coordinating resources, and engaging with faculty to enhance career programming. Additionally, the Director will manage mentorship programming and contribute to the continuous improvement of career services through data-driven decision-making and strategic partnerships. This position supervises the Partnerships and Career Services position and is an exempt, full-time position, located in Fremont, California. Candidates must reside in the local area or be willing to relocate.

Primary Responsibilities
- Serves as a University expert and thought leader on best practices in student career services.
- Develops programs based on career needs that are reflective of the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and social identities of SFBU students and areas of study.
- Articulates and monitors emerging career and employment trends, identifies stakeholder and employment needs, and communicates applicable changes in professions/industries to the campus community.
- Works with university leadership to develop employer relations strategies that expand employer involvement; sustains, broadens, and/or deepens employer engagement with students; and builds new employment pipelines for SFBU students.
- Ensures an employer outreach strategy identifying employers who share SFBU’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and embrace workplace inclusion practices.
- Works with University stakeholders to develop and manage a robust program to support part-time and full-time internships, cooperative education, and other experiential learning opportunities. Partners with academic and advancement colleagues and identifies community/ corporate partnerships to increase access to these opportunities for all students, including a focus on funding support for unpaid internships and related experiences.
- Collaborates with Alumni Relations/ VP of External Relations to maximize opportunities for alumni involvement in students’ career development, preparation, and planning, as well as graduate school, professional, and career advising for alumni.
- Optimizes appropriate technology and databases to enhance communication, interactions, and activities among students, alumni, and employers.
- Manages the career services platform contract (Handshake) and mentorship platform contract (Mentor Collective).
- Master's degree (emphasis in educational leadership, higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resource management, or related field).
- Five to seven years of relevant experience in a career office setting.
- Strong organizational program development and communication skills.
- Extensive experience with presentations, workshops, educational, or training events.
- Creative thinking/ reasoning abilities.
- Experience in establishing community and corporate partnerships in support of student employment.
- Demonstrated competency to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituents including students, employers, alumni, faculty, and staff.
- Assists the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs team in other projects as assigned.
